WHEREAS, the United States Women's Rowing Team has been training in Chattanooga on a full-time basis since March, 1993, under the direction of Head Coach Hartmut Buschbacher; and WHEREAS, the United States Women's Rowing Team most recently competed in the World Rowing Championship in Tampere, Finland, and received four Gold Medals in the following events: Women's Lightweight Pair, Women's Lightweight Four, Women's Four and Women's Eight, and a Silver Medal in the Women's Pair event; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the United States Women's Rowing Team be and is hereby recognized and commended for their excellent performance during the World Rowing Championship and for their first class representation of the United States. All citizens of Chattanooga salute the Team's performance and encourage the athletes to "Go for the Gold" in Atlanta in 1996. ADOPTED: October 17, 1995 KOF:cjc
